Gymnastics

Writhlington Gymnastics and Trampoline club aim to give children the opportunity to develop skills that will no doubt benefit them whether they choose to pursue the gymnastics pathway or go onto another sport in the future.
Our gymnastics programme offers children of all ages the opportunity to participate at a level appropriate to their age and ability. We also have a development path which allows children who are particularly talented and gifted to achieve their potential .
Gymnastics underpins all other sports as it offers a wide range of body management skills such as balance, strength, co-ordination, flexibility, body awareness and good physical fitness. All classes are taken by British gymnastics qualified coaches, classes are available for children from 4 years old.
We also offer Pre-school gymnastics to children from 1-4 years as gymnastics underpins all other sports encouraging your child to take part at an early age will set them up with a broad range of physical skills that will carry them through their sporting choice.

Jolly Jumpers
This class is suitable for 4-6 year olds. The class provides an introduction to gymnastics through games and fun based circuit activities. Through these activities children will learn fundamental skills as well as working towards the first stages of British gymnastics and Writhlington apparatus award schemes. Children will need to be competent at specific set skills before moving into the rocking rollers class.
Rocking rollers
This class is suitable for children who have completed Jolly Jumpers or beginners aged 6 - 7 years. In rocking rollers children are given the opportunity to explore a wider range of apparatus, allowing them to improve their fundamental skills as well as challenging themselves at a higher level of gymnastics. Children will also work towards British gymnastics and Writhlington apparatus award schemes. Children will need to be competent at specific set skills before moving into the fantastic flippers class.
Fantastic Flippers
This class is suitable for children who have completed rocking rollers or beginners aged 8 - 10 years. Children in this class will increase their skill level not only on the floor but also on the other pieces of apparatus including bar, beam and vault. Children will also work towards the intermediate levels of the British gymnastics and Writhlington apparatus award schemes. Children will need to be competent at specific set skills before moving into the amazing acrobats class.
Amazing acrobats
This class is suitable for children who have completed fantastic flippers or beginners aged 10 - 12 years. Children in this class continue to be taught in groups and work on specific apparatus and floor skills using all of the equipment available. Children will also work towards completing the advanced levels of the British gymnastics and Writhlington apparatus award schemes. Once completed children will then work towards their bronze, silver and gold British gymnastics awards.
Our recreational gymnasts work towards their British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards as well as their Writhlington Gym Club Apparatus Awards. Development Groups
These classes are invitation only. Children on our recreation programme who show a natural ability towards gymnastics may be invited to join one of our girls or boys groups. These groups train between 1.5 and 15 hours a week depending on their age and ability.

Recreational Classes
Members £3.80 per class
Non Members £4.80 per class
Pre School -1, 2 and 3 years Classes
Members £3.40 per class
Non Members £4.40 per class
Please note classes run in 10 week blocks and must be paid for in advance. Children can start classes at any point throughout a 10 week block as long as there is space. The cost will therefore vary depending on which week the child starts. Please contact reception on 01761 438559 for further details and bookings.
Clothing
Children will need to wear comfortable sports clothing avoiding clothes with buckles, poppers, zips or hoods. Children will work in bare feet, skirts are NOT permitted. Jewellery is also NOT permitted in any of our classes for safety reasons. Children with long hair will be asked to tie it back.
Feedback on Children's progress
We allow a 10 minute change over time between lessons for parents to briefly speak to their child's coach if there any queries regarding their progress.
