All of our courses are taught in small friendly groups and are designed to provide progressive learning in easy steps. Each course is led by a tutor who demonstrates each step and is able to give individual advice along the way.
ARTS
Drawing Techniques - Improvers
This 10 week course aims to build on existing drawing skills to help you develop more confidence and ability in using a range of coloured grounds and drawing materials, and increase your awareness of different styles of drawing, looking at the work of a range of artists. You will also use sketchbooks to experiment with ideas.
10 weeks £70
This course runs on Monday evenings from 7pm - 9pm beginning on 23/4/12 and running until 16/7/12 excluding 7/5/12, 14/5/12 and 4/6/12
Drawing Techniques - Beginners
This friendly and encouraging 10 week course aims to show you how and where to start drawing and help you develop more confidence and ability, using a range of coloured grounds and drawing materials.
10 weeks £70
This course runs on Tuesday evenings from 7pm - 9pm beginning on 24/4/12 and running until 10/7/12 excluding 8/5/12 and 5/6/12
Watercolour for Beginners
An opportunity for complete beginners to discover just how creative you can be in a friendly and supportive environment!
10 weeks £70 plus £2 per week for materials used.
This course runs on Tuesday evenings from 7pm - 9pm beginning on 24/4/12 and running until 3/7/12 excluding 5/6/12
CRAFTS
Handmade Crafts
A brand new course which will explore a range of craft and sewing techniques to create beautiful decorations for
the home, as well as handmade gifts for friends and family. Projects will include willow work, fabric collage, felt decorations,
appliqué and making beautiful packaging. Some sewing skills required.
8 weeks £56 plus a small charge for material used
This course runs on Wednesdays from 7pm – 9pm beginning 25/4/12 and running until 20/6/12 excluding 6/6/12.
Sugarcraft for Beginners
Starting from scratch learn to make delicate sugar paste flowers and leaves and the technique of arranging them into beautiful and individual sprays to top your special cakes.
10 weeks £70 plus a small weekly charge for materials used. A list of items needed is available or you may use the Tutors equipment or buy items from her.
This course runs on Tuesdays from 7.30om – 9.30pm beginning 24/4/12 and running until 3/7/12 excluding 5/6/12.
Dress Making for Beginners or Improvers
Two courses to give you the help you need whatever your ability. Beginners will learn to measure correctly and calculate fabric quantities, to choose, read, mark and pin patterns, to cut materiel and make up a finished garment. Improvers will learn more complex techniques and the course will be adapted to their particular requirements. You will need to bring your own electric sewing machine.
Both courses 10 weeks £70 plus the cost of your pattern and material which you will need to have purchased for Week 3 of the course.
Beginners - This course runs on Mondays from 7pm - 9pm beginning 23/4/12 and running until 9/7/12 excluding 7/5/12 and 4/6/12
Improvers - This course runs on Thursdays from 7pm - 9pm beginning 26/4/12 and running until 5/7/12 excluding 7/6/12.
Jewellery Making - Intermediate
For those who have completed a Beginners course or who have existing skills and knowledge of Jewellery Making - this course will show you new techniques with wire and beading and inspire you with new ideas!
10 weeks £70 plus an additional charge of £2 per week for beads.
This course runs on Wednesdays from 7pm - 9pm beginning on 2/5/12 and running until 11/7/12 excluding 6/6/12.
Patchwork & Quilting - Improvers
This 10 week course builds on existing skills and teaches further techniques to create a unique textile piece of work.
10 weeks £70
This course runs on Thursdays from 7pm - 9pm beginning on 26/4/12 and running until 12/7/12 excluding 10/5/12 and 7/6/12.
Mosaics for all Levels
Learn to create beautiful pictures and patterns using fragments of tiles, beads, glass etc. Suitable for indoor or outdoor projects.
10 weeks £70 plus a small charge for materials used.
This course runs on Wednesdays from 7pm - 9pm beginning 25/4/12 and running until 4/7/12 excluding 6/6/12.
Knitting for All Levels
Whether you struggle to cast on or want to learn more complex stitches and techniques then this is the course for you! Come along and join this very friendly and supportive course and make a start with a small baby's garment or similar item.

Creative Writing Level 2
For those who have already completed the Beginners course or who have some existing experience of writing, this course is designed to help you initiate and expand ideas for your own projects, to explore putting together longer pieces of writing and generally assist you to develope the writing craft.

For those who have completed a Beginners course or wish to refresh existing skills, this course will lead you on to explore a wider range of vocabulary and pronunciation.

French Beginners and Intermediate

French Conversation
For those who are already able to converse with some confidence in French but wish to improve, this course gives you 90 minutes each week to speak nothing but French! Working with a French born, very approachable and friendly tutor you will converse about subjects which interest you, polishing your accent and improving your fluency in this beautiful language.
10 weeks £53 for 1.5 hrs per week
This course runs on Wednesdays from 7pm - 8.30pm beginning on 25/4/12 and running until 4/7/12 excluding 6/6/12.
Other Interests
Astronomy
This course is designed for complete beginners and will give a wide-ranging overview of Astronomy including the opportunity to look at the skies in detail using a telescope. Subjects covered will include:
* how to choose equipment and how to observe
* the basic concepts of Astronomy
* the planets and other members of our Solar System
* the nature of stars and galaxies, and how they evolve
* the Big Bang and evolution of the Universe
